Sorry, our website has been down.  We are open and the course is in great shape!

You were forwarded to this temporary website.   Our host company "upgraded" their system and crashed our site.   We are working with tech support and they promised to get our site up and running tomorrow.  But we are not holding our breath!

Bruce would rather work on the course than wrestle with the computer and wait on hold for tech support.  Please come up to the mountain and cheer him up!   (Hey Bruce, Maybe the computer could use a whack with a 9 iron...)

Just follow these signs...

Directions

If you are coming from south of Elkin, take I-77 north to Elkin. It is 10 miles from the intersection with Hwy.421 to the exit. After crossing the Yadkin River move into the left lane to exit on Hwy. 21 BYPASS to Sparta. This is an unusual left lane exit. If coming from the north on I-77, take 268 West bypass for 1/2 mile, and turn right on 21 North bypass.

Follow Hwy 21 for 10 miles. Watch for the brown sign for Stone Mountain State Park and our red sign. Turn left on Traphill Road.

After the turn, continue on Traphill Road for 5 miles. (Do not turn at the State Park Entrance at John Frank Parkway). After passing the school on the left, turn right on Longbottom Road.

The sign is partially obscured, so watch for the first road to the right after passing Traphill Elementary School.

Continue west on Longbottom Road for 3.8 miles. (You’ll pass the back gate of Stone Mountain State Park, don't turn in). Turn left at the Greenstreet Mountain entrance gate (our sign is on right).

To get to Stone Mountain Golf Course, enjoy 2 miles on Greenstreet Drive to Viewpoint Drive. Turn right on Viewpoint Drive and you will see the clubhouse on the left. Please drive slowly and watch for deer and golf carts. The view to the left is Stone Mountain and the view to the right is the Blue Ridge. Thank you.

Scenic Route from Elkin via Stone Mountain State Park:  Make time for a picnic or a hike.  Follow the signs from Hwy. 21 and turn at John P. Frank Parkway.  Drive through one of the most beautiful parks on earth.   When you reach the back entrance on Longbottom Road, turn right and go 1 mile until you get to the Greenstreet Mountain entrance gate.

Check Stone Mountain State Park web site for park information, maps, and park hours.

From Wilkesboro: Look for the signs to North Wilkes High School. From Wilkesboro, take Hwy 268 east toward Elkin. After crossing the Roaring River about 3-4 miles from town, turn left at the stoplight on Airport Road. Go past the airport and you will come to a stopsign. Turn left on Rock Creek Rd.into the town of Hays, stay straight, and the road becomes Traphill Road. Drive past North Wilkes High School (Go Vikings) into the town of Traphill. When the speed limit becomes 35 mph look for the post office on the right. Take the next left (you'll see our sign) on Longbottom Road, go 3.8 miles (you'll pass the back entrance to Stone Mountain State Park), and you'll see our sign on the right. Turn left into Greenstreet Mountain and follow the road to Viewpoint Drive. Turn right, you'll see the clubhouse on the left.

From Boone and Jefferson: Take the Blue Ridge Parkway or Hwy. 88 to Hwy. 18. Turn right and go downhill toward Wilkesboro, and when the road levels out take a left on Longbottom Road (if you reach the village of McGrady on Hwy 18, turn around, go back 1/2 mile to Longbottom). Go 11 miles down beautiful Longbottom Road until you see our entrance.

From Sparta or the Blue Ridge Parkway: Take Hwy. 21 south to the beautiful town of Roaring Gap. As soon as you see Scenic Realty on the right, watch for Oklahoma Road about 1/2 mile further on the right just past the Continental Divide/Yadkin River sign, with an Elk Spur Baptist Church sign also. Be prepared for 10 miles (to our gate) of the prettiest road in this area. It's not the fastest 10 miles, but you're on mountain time now, so relax and enjoy. After turning right on Oklahoma, you will come to a stop sign after a few miles. Turn left or right.

Turn right into scenic Stone Mountain State Park and drive through gorgeous vistas with deer and turkeys, and some of the best trout fishing anywhere. Visit the visitors center. When you reach the exit to the park on Longbottom Road, turn right for one mile and you will see our sign on the right.

If you turn left from Oklahoma, you'll take the faster way down John Frank Parkway. When you reach the stop sign, turn right on Traphill Road, go .8 (8/10's) of a mile, then turn right on Longbottom Road at our sign. Go 3.8 miles and turn left into the mountain (across from our sign).
